Well, I couldn't return from another trip to the States without SOMETHING with Captain Jack on it.

So while at the Mall of America I picked up this PEZ dispenser to add to my collection.

That makes 101 Pirate goodies.

Talk about eye candy.

Okay, maybe not the "Dead", but I have been away.

For far too long.

Today I got the newest addition to my Pirates collection since, well, I guess Christmas.

Geez.

The 2008 Hallmark ornament. Here it is with 2006 (Magic, with the Pirates Disney theme), 2007, and this year's, again a Magic ornament with Captain Jack at the wheel and sound (4 different sayings).

Ooooer. Number 100 in the collection!!!!

This year, hubby surprised me with a few Pirates goodies for Christmas once again.

This huge poster was a great surprise! Of course it had to be framed and added to my "Pirates Room" right away!

Treasure Chest

While on a business trip in Milwaukee, I found this POTC treasure chest at the Disney Store. It has a large Christmas ornament inside, which measures about three inches across. The chest itself is very heavy cast. Because it was nicked, I got it for 75% off.

During our trip to Fargo last month, I was able to pick up two more things I couldn't find up here in Canada:

Upon updating my Slide presentation of my Pirates collection (which you can view at the bottom of my blog), I have counted up how many items I now have. Even though I haven't really been obsessing on this collection like I did with my Star Wars one, I was surprised to find out that I have 83 different licenced Pirates collectibles...

Wow. Even though there are a lot more items out there, I am pleased with what I have.

Since I have a small collection of Pirates goodies from the first two films, it was only a matter of time before I would break down and get a few At World's End tokens too.

Daughter found these mini discs (aka Frizbees)
and talked me into the beach towel too. Both were picked up at Wal-Mart.

Actually, I can't wait to wrap myself around this towel!

At World's End - Finally!

Finally! Exactly 11 months to the day after seeing Dead Man's Chest, we had our first (but not last) viewing of At World's End last night.

Of course, I loved it...the effects, the way the story kept you guessing, the wrap up, the start of a new storyline and even the extra scene after the credits rolled were awesome. It still amazes me that after two other installments, how people can rush out of the theatre when the credits start, only to miss important scenes at the very end. I won't give it away here, but if you have yet to see it, make sure you stay to see it!

Found these today at Zeller's... $ 1.99 each. I didn't know if they had different stickers inside, so I got three. Upon opening two that were identical, I am assuming they are all the same. The stickers are from the animated version of Pirates:

Squeeze Light Keychain

I can hardly believe that I find something new for Pirates nearly every day. Yesterday I actually discovered this in the toy section at a local store.

The Energizer Squeeze light keychain. You press the medallion and a little light beams out the bottom - great for finding that door lock in the dark - which is perfect for this time of year when it gets dark about 4:30 pm and your better half forgets to turn on the porch light for you ...

Model Ship, Day 4

After a few days away from my Jolly Roger model, I was back at it today, and here it is on Day 4:

186 parts together so far...details including cannon covers, rudder, bow assembly, ladders, stern assembly, bell and hatches. Slowly but surely it's beginning to take shape!

Liar's Dice Game

During yesterday's visit to the Disney Store (see post below) I also picked up the Dead Man's Chest Liar's Dice Game. Now, I for sure would not have bought this at the regular price of $ 22.50, as I thought all it included was two cups and some dice... but when I saw it also included a deck of cards, and that it was on sale for just $ 9 ... well, then I WAS interested.
I have to admit, this game does look pretty cool ... and if you're not playing dice, you can always use the cards; they are a regular set of playing cards, nice graphics with Jack, of course, as the Jack, Elizabeth is the Queen, Will the King, and the skull logo the Ace.
If you find this set at a decent price, I would recommend you pick it up!

Bein' in the right place at the right time...

Around Christmas, the Disney Store had a few Jack Sparrow/Will Turner pillows. At about $25, I passed them up. A few weeks later I went back, and it wasn't really surprising that they were gone. Today, as I was passing by the same store, their "Greeter" was holding a pillow like a teddy bear. I said, "Great! You have these back in stock!" She said "No, we just found the one in the back, and I was hoping to take it home and that four other Cast Members were wanting it too" (if it didn't sell). But for $12, that pillow was finally mine! My collection now numbers over 60 items!

Mickey Sparrow

Mickey's arrived! On December 27th, I found out about a certain POTC collectible you can only get at the parks; a plush Jack Sparrow Mickey Mouse. One member of the KeepToTheCode.com messageboard showed a photo of one she had picked up at Walt Disney World - Mickey dressed up as Jack, holding a compass. Another member chimed in that there was a first issue of the plush, however, he was holding a cutlass instead of a compass...the rumor was that Disney thought Mickey shouldn't be holding a weapon, so they re-issued him without the sword. Well, I just wanted to see if any were available on eBay, since I am nowhere near Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Lo and behold, I found one; WITH the cutlass, no less! Well I bought him right away and today he arrived in perfect condition:

Ship Progress

Okay, I've decided to do a photo journal of my ship building progress. Began on December 30th, here is Day 1:

Two decks, 30 cannons, each one was two parts; a carriage and barrel that had to be trimmed, painted and glued together. Each deck was also painted / weathered.

Day 2 (December 31st):

115 parts so far...Step 3 of 16 includes most of the deckwork - bannisters, grates, a ladder, deadeyes, support struts, a hatch with movable doors and roof, a steering wheel that turns, vents, capstan and breastbeams.

Day 3 (January 1st):

Only 4 parts added today, as most of the time was spent painting the hulls. Added the forward deck in two pieces, then the fun job of attaching the hull in two pieces to the deck assembly.

I wonder if I'll get it finished before I get back to work January 8th ...

DMC Store Display

Wow, I can't believe it! Asking sometimes works... today while at Zeller's the manager was taking out the DVDs from this display in the video department and moving them to another area at the front of the store... so I asked if they ever give away their displays when they are done with them. He said "sure" and began taking it apart for me! I thought he was just going to write my name on it or something, and MAYBE call weeks from now. Nope... we walked out of the store minutes later with the whole display! Good thing we had the truck with us... it is over six feet tall!!! What a great way to display my POTC collection!

Okay, I'll admit it. After watching Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl, I was hooked... I instantly fell in love with the story and the characters; especially Captain Jack Sparrow (I mean, how many women out there could not fall in love with Johnny Depp, even when he is a scoundrel?). I was so looking forward to seeing Dead Man's Chest this year, and it did not disappoint. I can't wait for next summer when we will be treated to the final chapter of this swashbuckling trilogy. So here's where I'll discuss all things of my favorite "Bloody Pirate".
